ADMINISTRATOR

Paul Luitjens was born and raised in Britton, S.D. Paul has a B.A. degree from the University of South Dakota , and finished his masters of Business Administration degree at North Dakota State University. He has a background in business consulting, Investments and Insurance sales, and Market research. Paul also has had a stint in the military in which he was stationed overseas.

Paul has been a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator since 1991. He has been at four different facilities, in which he has been in charge of Nursing Homes, Assisted Living, Home Healthcare, and an Ambulance Service. Paul went to work in 2001 for Ecumen. In 2004 he became a dual administrator for Colonial Manor of Balaton and Clarkfield Care Center. Both are Ecumen managed facilities.

DIRECTOR OF NURSING

Ellen Ruhmann is our Director of Nursing. She was born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago. She is married and has 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters. Ellen recently moved to Minnesota after living in California for 20 years. She had been Director of Nursing at an 80-bed facility in California. Ellen feels very fortunate to have found employment at the Colonial Manor where there is great support from the administrator, department heads and staff, as well as the Ecumen staff. She is learning the regulations regarding assisted living so that she can assist at that facility during vacation times. She looks forward to working at the Colonial Manor for many years to come.


BUSINESS OFFICE

Elaine Fischer is the Financial Worker at Colonial Manor and greets you when you walk through the door. Elaine heads the business office department. Her department is responsible for answering phone calls, delivering mail, accounts receivable and payables, resident trust and payroll. She also works with insurance. Last February the facility brought the billing department back to Colonial Manor. Our residents appreciate this service as our staff is able to help them locally with any questions they have. Elaine makes sure that the facility's business office is run in an efficient and professional manner.


SOCIAL SERVICES AND ACTIVITY DEPARTMENT

Heather Radke is our Social Service Worker and head of the activities department.

Heather is here for residents and their families, looking out for their best interests. These professionals help families work out details, make financial arrangements, coordinate with physicians to make the transaction easier for everyone.

Our activity staff recognizes that therapeutic and leisure activities are important for residents. Our daily schedule includes a variety of opportunities to socialize, enjoy music entertainment, discuss current events, participate in games and enjoy weekly church activities. Once a month we have a Birthday Party for the residents. For those unable to attend group activities, one to one services are offered.

DIETARY DEPARTMENT

Marlys Lacroix is our Food Service Director. Our dietary department offers choices, substitution and individualized diets. Marlys coordinates all these menus. Twice a month our dietary department features "special meals." Some of our special days are Mexican Day, Hawaiian Day, Baseball Day, Football tailgate party, Scandinavian Day, Pizza Day, and Spring Fever Day. The residents truly look forward to their "special days."

At Colonial Manor we also offer home delivered meals and serve meals to our people in the assisted living unit.
